Ail Slum

As the first sunlight of dawn dances on the glassy surface of Saint Lake, Town Zero awakes from the deep and silent sleep. The baker just finishes shaping the dough and starts to put citizens’ breakfasts into the oven. After around half an hour, the sweet smells of roasted chestnuts and mashed red beans are woven into the fresh morning air, spreading throughout the city.

Zia gets up even earlier than the baker though her shift doesn’t start until the afternoon. She needs to gather some materials for her adventure at night. After finishing her breakfast, she puts on a linen shirt, a denim jacket, and leather boots and then grabs her bag that she prepared the night before. After getting everything done, she steps down the stairs from her bedroom, heads to the left side of the living room, walking straight towards the door. Suddenly her thought stops her, she needs to change the flowers for Naomi.

Naomi is Zia’s older sister, they lived together in this two story wooden cottage deep inside the forest. After they lost their parents in a magic attack initiated by rebel forces from the downtown, Naomi has taken the role of mother and provided good care for Zia. However, Naomi has been missing for more than three weeks. The last time Zia talked to her was on a morning when Naomi was going out for her duty as a forest ranger. She left and then never came back.
